The name combines the letters I and U, and is pronounced as “I-you”. The meaning of the name has been explained as “I and you become one through music”.

Jisoo

Real name: Kim Jisoo.

Jennie

Real name: Kim Jennie.

Lisa

Shortening of her legal name: Lalisa Manobal. She was born Pranpriya Manobal, but following the advice of a fortune teller, her name was changed to Lalisa, meaning “the one who is praised”.

Rosé

Shortening of her real name: Roseanne Park.

Seulgi

Real name: Kang Seulgi.

YeoJin

Yves

The name is pronounced as “Eve”, as in “Adam and Eve”, but is written with a different spelling. This is part of a series of biblical references surrounding the sub-unit Loona yyxy, of which Yves is the first revealed member. In Loona‘s lore, Yves bites an apple to start yyxy’s escape from “Eden”, similarly to how in the Bible Eve eats the forbidden fruit (often depicted as an apple), leading to Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden.
