J‑Hope
J comes from the first letter of his last name: Jung. Hope represents his desire of brining hope to his fans.
Jimin
Real name: Park Jimin.
Jin
From his real name: Kim Seokjin.
Jung Kook
Real name: Jeon Jungkook.
RM
Acronym of “Rap Monster”. In 2017, he declared that this name doesn’t represent him anymore, and could instead symbolize other meanings, such as “Real Me”.
Suga (Agust D)
Derived from the first syllables of “shooting guard” (shoo-gua -> su-ga), the basketball position he played during his school years. In his solo works, he’s also known as Agust D. This name comes from spelling the name “Suga” backwards, together with the letters D and T, from Daegu Town, his hometown.
