Nuoro

Nuoro is a city located among the mountains of central-eastern Sardinia. Inhabited since ancient times, Nuoro emerged a small village in the Middle Ages, and slowly grew to become the main center in the area. The city now houses a few historic attractions and various museums.

Cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve

The Cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve is the main church of Nuoro. The church was built in Neoclassical style during the 19th century to replace a previous smaller building, and houses a few artworks and decorations.

Cala Gonone

Bitti

Bitti is a small town located among the mountains north of Nuoro, in the historical region of Barbagia. The town is best known for a nearby archaeological site.

Su Romanzesu

The Su Romanzesu is an ancient nuragic complex and archaeological site near Bitti. The site includes a Bronze Age village, with an amphitheater, some temples, a holy well, and various other structures. The village was inhabited between the 14th and 7th century BCE.
